Blah

Two: Chairs and Cats

I've got the blah's - and with such nice weather!

Part of it was caused by loratadine (claritin,or our generic, "wal-itin") - so I'm not going to take that again. It made me very nervous and on edge, but my allergies were killing me after a long hike through the woods yesterday morning.

Another part of it is caused by not sleeping. Since I hurt my ribs, it's been so hard to sleep. Every toss and every turn is like a knife through my side. It probably doesn't help that I'm still running everyday instead of letting them heal properly...

I've discovered a fun new game with the cats, however. They actually created it. They now like to hide under the bed, meowing, until I come into the room. Then, I have to lay down on the bed, dangling my hands over the sides, and run my fingers along the dust ruffle. They wait and wait...and wait some more...and then...STRIKE! It's actually pretty scary when they do come out, because they come out at full speed with their little paws first. But it's quite fun, and nice and lazy of a game for me.

Chuck's Back

Chuck came back from his cabin last night, and I'd forgotten how much I missed him.

We walked to Cuppa Java and had a glass of wine. I did most of the talking, as usual. On the walk home, we saw a rabbit, an owl, and plenty of bats. We decided that this week we will build our bat houses for the house and the cabin.

I think Chuck missed the cats more than anything. He spent about an hour playing with them before bed. We taught them a fun new trick too. We throw the mice over their heads, and they do flips to catch them. Similar to when you throw a Frisbee for a dog, only much much spazzier.

When I asked Chuck if he missed me: "I did, but it was nice and quiet up there."

Rainy Monday

It's been a nice rainy Monday. Not too grey or cold...just nice and damp.

My side is slowly getting better, and I can almost do yoga again! I even went for a run this morning while the Advil was peaking.

Otherwise, it's been a pretty Mundane Monday. Lots of cleaning, napping with cats, and a bit of artwork.

I'm looking forward to next weekend when it's supposed to be very summer-like weather, and I'll get to do some more gardening.

More Advil now.

Saturday

I am so fudging sore.

I'm pretty sure I pulled something during tennis yesterday with Mindy. I didn't notice how bad it was until I got into bed last night (or attempted to), and it hurt just to breath. I'm popping Advil like candy today just to be able to do regular things.

After tennis, there was Cheapotle and some Whole Foods/Trader Joe's action.

I went to Sung Sook's graduation party last night, and had one too many glasses of red wine, which dulled the pain on my side...

Finally after burning it off through some vicious ping pong with Mindy, I drove home at about 10:30, which was about 2 hours later than I'd planned on staying.

Since my side hurt so bad by the time I got home, I wasn't able to do any nighttime gardening, and I know that it's not going to happen today unless I graduate from Advil to Vicodin, and that's not going to happen. Sorry plants.

Out with it

I'm finally feeling a little better.

Everyone I talked to yesterday on the phone told me that "[I sounded] terrible." I felt terrible too, so thanks.

I had one of every herbal tea I could get my hands on yesterday, and I think that's what did the trick. That, and drinking my weight in water, to the point of feeling sea sick.

I can't believe how gorgeous it is here in Minnesota today. It feels like summer, and I'm loving it to pieces. Running this morning was like a scene from a storybook. Everything in full bloom, birds chirping, all that crap.

I don't have a lot to say today, except that I had a dream I ate Penis Sandwich, and that I'm looking forward to a sauna tonight.

Still Yuck

Against my intuition, I took NyQuil last night. Never again.

I feel as though someone came in last night, hit me with a hammer, and left me unconcious. Then, when I "awoke", I was slapped around in the head with a 2x4, and left unconcious again. And again, when I "woke up" (this time at noon, mind you), it felt like I had been slipped a good dosage of roofies.

Even after a few cups of green tea, the world is still spinning around me. I really can't even tell if I'm feeling better because the side effects of the medicine are just too strong.

I managed to walk to the corner store (because Lord knows that I can't drive in this state) to buy some (more holistic) detox tea. I think I'll stick with that, and leave the roofies to Chuck.

Luckily, the cats are *extremely* snuggly today, and are helping to keep my focus away from feeling like I've just survived the longest rave of my life.

Yuck

It was so beautiful outside that, when I felt up to moving around, I decided to go for a walk, and get some fresh air and sunshine. It probably wasn't the best idea, but it was nice to say that I got outside on such a perfect Minnesota day.

Now it's back to daytime television (yuck), coffee-table-crafting, and herbal detox teas.
